Want to take part in the world’s biggest half marathon?
Disability Sport Events for the very first year have places in the Great North Run. This iconic event takes place on Sunday 19 September 2010. More than 54,000 runners will be running the streets of Newcastle and Gateshead in this televised half marathon. The course will take you over the Tyne Bridge, through Newcastle and finally to the finish line- on the South Shields sea front.
We organise regional, national and international events in a variety of sports. This is a great opportunity to build on the nation’s enthusiasm and commitment to sport. In the recent Sport England Active People survey 93% of disabled people were found not to be taking part in physical activity. We want to help change this participation rate and promote sport and physical activity to more disabled people. By choosing to run for us- you’re helping to give everyone a sporting chance.
To take part in this momentous event simply pay the £40 entry and fundraise £300 towards the charity.
In return we’ll offer you:
Training plan
Event up dates
Meeting point for a celebratory drink afterwards
Running vest
DSE is the events arms of the English Federation of Disability Sport- the umbrella body of sport and physical activity in England. We rely on fundraising and sponsorship for our programmes to exist. With your help, we could make an even bigger difference to thousands of disabled peoples’ lives.
