International Training Program
Changsha City, Hunan Province, China from April to May, 2011

Invitation

The World Blind Union Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission is a specialized branch committee of the World Blind Union Asia Pacific. The aims and objectives of the World Blind Union Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission are to unite the masseur in the East Asia & Pacific Region for academic exchanges; for improvement of massage theories and skills and to promote massage as an ongoing vocation for the visually impaired in the Region. The Commission is an academic body under the auspices of the World Blind Union. It co-operates with other such academic bodies to promote massage as a vocation for the visually impaired. One of the responsibilities of the Commission is to organize teachers’ training courses for masseur in the Region who have acquired a higher standard of massage skills. After graduation, certificates will be issued to them which means that their qualification will be recognized by the Region.

China is well experienced in aspects of management, education and clinical of Blind Massage. Traditional Chinese Massage is unique. Under the proposal of the World Blind Union Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission, China Blind Massage Administration Centre and China Hunan Yeahcome Health Care Co., Ltd will sponsor an international training program on Medical Massage Instructors for the visually impaired scheduled to take place in Changsha city, Hunan province, China, April 1st – May 31st, 2011. The focus is to set up a platform for communication among the Asia Pacific regional blind masseur and to strengthen the relationship and co-operation between China and other member countries or regions of the World Blind Union Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission.

Herewith, we sincerely invite member countries or regions of the World Blind Union Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission to nominate candidates on the basis of the requirement. We welcome member countries or regions to participate the training program.

The training program will be administered by China Hunan Yeahcome Health Care Co., Ltd. As the training will be conducted in English, consequently a very good command of English language is required. Candidates will have to submit an official language certificate with their application. The participants should hold an academic background and should have practical experience from work in the field of blind massage.

We will pay for the participation fee and costs for accommodation and meals, tuition, textbook information and local transportation in Changsha city, Hunan province during their training in China. The travel cost to China Changsha and the travel cost returning from China Changsha to his/her own country as well as international long distance telephone charges should be covered by the participant or his/her organization. And the accompanying person should afford all his/her own expenses.

I. Mission of Training
In order to enhance the Asia Pacific regional blind massage industry, to support the trainees’ work of blind massage in their countries and areas, to provide a platform for communication and strengthen the relationship and co-operation between member states.

II. Duration and Location
Date: April 1st – May 31st, 2011 (Registration Date: April 1st, 2011)
Venue: Changsha city, Hunan province, China

III. Structure
1. Introduction of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Massage overview; and
2. Theory of Traditional Chinese Massage, including TCM basic theory, meridians and acupoints; and
3. Massage therapies and teaching methods of common diseases, i.e. headache, cervical spondylosis, frozen shoulder, lubar intervertebral disc protrusion; and
4. The pedagogy for the blind; and
5. The policy for blind medical massage of China government; and
6. The status in education, training and employment of Chinese medical massage practitioners.

V. Numbers of Trainee
It estimates to take 15 trainees from member countries or regions of the WUB Asia Pacific Regional Massage Committee. Approx. 1 - 2 persons from each member country and region in principle.

VI. Entry Requirement
Applicants should:
1) be between twenty-five (25) to forty-five (45) years of age. Be engaged in massage instruction for the visually impaired persons, or be a masseur himself/herself. Have at least Five (5) years of practical experience in the fields mentioned above, or have the equivalent technical skills, be able to work as an instructor at a training center of some kind, which trains visually impaired persons with therapeutic massage techniques, and
2) have sufficient capacity of English speaking, listening and writing, and have the ability to read English Braille if he/she does not read printed materials, and
3) be able to travel and move by him/herself, and
4) be in good health both physically and mentally to undergo the course of training (as the training covers a long period and may pose risk to pregnant women, pregnancy is regarded as a disqualifying condition for participation), and
5) not be serving in the military, and
6) not participate in any political activity and shall not participate in a profit of any nature or to obtain employment activities during the training period, and
7) be nominated by their government in accordance with the procedures.

IX. Insurance
We’ll purchase the Personal Accident Insurance for every trainee. Meanwhile, we suggest all trainees to purchase the related insurance in their native country/region before departure for safety guarantee purpose.

X. Certificates
The WBU Asia Pacific Regional Massage Commission and China Blind Massage Administration Centre will award the certificate for the trainee of the Asia Pacific Regional Blind Medical Massage Instructors' International Training Program.

XI. Application Procedure
Fill out the Application Form (Details in Appendix), including a color photo and other necessary materials/data (the official language of proof, an authority letter of recommendation). Please send the scanned documents to E-mail at penglei@yeahcome.com.
